Bankruptcies Rise Nearly 40%

The American Bankruptcy Institute says that the number of bankruptcies in America has went up nearly 40% in the last year.

In 2006, 573,203 residents in the United States filed for bankruptcy. In 2007, more than 801,840 United States citizens filed for bankruptcy. What is the cause of this jump? Studies showed that the majority of the filings were caused by the home mortgage crisis. For 2008, the American Bankruptcy Institute predicts the number or people filing for bankruptcy will rise another 7.5%. The American Bankruptcy Institute also predicts that more jobs will be lost this year.

Gas prices are still rising, it doesn’t seem like much, but they definitly are.

It seems like cities that get traveled to more by out of staters, tend to have higher gas prices. Coastal cities such as Los Angelos and New york also have high gas prices. However, in the less populated areas of the United States such as in Kansas and Oklahoma, prices seem to be cheaper.

71% of our power is produces by fossil fuels and 21% from nuclear power. the other 8% is from other power resources.

America uses more money, gas and oil, and electricity than any other country in the world.
